I find I need to iterate a bit; chat some, tweak the personality/backstory, and chat some more. It'd be nice if there was a clean reset for the chat, or to clone the character.
I agree. I have gotten to a point with a character where it was just at an end and would love a reset.

Hi!
Typing /reset will erase your characters memory leaving your backstory intact and it will start from the introduction. A few things to note. The same as scrolling back and deleting messages once you reset all memory your companion has of recent discussions will be gone.
If you want a believable lifelike character I suggest taking care with the backstory and messages before you type your first message. Treat it like writing a book, make a rough draft in Word and be has descriptive as possible. Basically put AI responds to the SISO. (Shit in - Shit out)
The better your input and maintenance of your characters development the less likely it get confused. Write it well enough and it can be generational, I have a character that keeps track of my companion and my grandchildren.

If you scroll to the top of the conversation you can delete your first message and that will, in effect do exactly that. Effects of up and downvotes are undone because those messages no longer exist.
Just wanted to let you know if you weren't already aware.
